The ATMP Roadway Improvements Project is part of LAX’s Airfield & Terminal Modernization Project (ATMP) to help reduce airport related congestion and traffic back-ups on surrounding public streets. As part of the ATMP Roadway Improvements Project, LAX is constructing 4.4 miles of replaced and reconfigured roadways to reduce congestion on Sepulveda Boulevard and create dedicated airport roadways for airport traffic queues headed to LAX’s Central Terminal Area (CTA).

The city proposes to widen University Dr from 2 through lanes to 3 through lanes in the eastbound direction from approx 650 ft east of the Ridgeline Dr/University Dr intersection to the southbound I-405 on-ramp. The project will join the existing 3 through lanes at the easterly limits and will join the planned improvements at the westerly limits from the Ridgeline Intersection Improvement Project. The project includes restriping from the Ridgeline Dr/University Dr intersection to the SB I-405 on-ramp. University Dr also includes an on-street Class II bike lane. The project will also include improvements such as paving, curb/gutter, grading, drainage, stormwater features, utility relocations, curb ramps, traffic signal modifications, and landscaping.
