The Needles Border Protection project included demolition and replacement of the existing Border Protection Station. It provides for inspection of all vehicles traveling west on Interstate 40 and serves to protect California’s agriculture industry from invasive species of pests entering the state via major roadways. The project includes an office building, private vehicle inspection canopy, a truck inspection building, pre-screening and a truck inspection canopy, nine inspection booths, fencing, signage, lane re-alignments, employee parking lot, truck and vehicle parking lot, several outbuildings for utilities, safety barriers, and landscape and irrigation improvements.
