LAX - APM
Automated People Mover
Southern California
In support of the LINXS team, LCI worked with the HDR/HNTB/DLR design team on the Mayor’s Design Advisory Panel and ‘Kit of Parts’ content and graphics for presentation to LAWA, City of Los AngelesCouncil District 11 and City agencies and stakeholders for the Automated People Mover (APM). The vision is to transform the passenger experience at LAX and the surrounding communities as the backbone of the Landscape Acess Modernization Program (LAMP).
Subsequently, in an effort to create a project vocabulary that would translate into a consolidated project theme and delineate consistency with multi-department requirements, LAMP, LAWA and City guidelines were reviewed and distilled into the APM Landscape Master Plan. Key topics addressed were iconic design, maintenance jurisdictions, plant materials, irrigation, stormwater management, site furnishings, pedestrian landscape lighting, and bicycle network.
This framework was intended to enhance the pedestrian experience visually and aesthetically, while improving efficacy in function and maintenance throughout the APM corridor.
