The ATMP Roadway Improvements Project is part of LAX’s Airfield & Terminal Modernization Project (ATMP) to help reduce airport related congestion and traffic back-ups on surrounding public streets. As part of the ATMP Roadway Improvements Project, LAX is constructing 4.4 miles of replaced and reconfigured roadways to reduce congestion on Sepulveda Boulevard and create dedicated airport roadways for airport traffic queues headed to LAX’s Central Terminal Area (CTA).

LAWA - Tom Bradley Terminal

Los Angeles, CA

As a Plaza and Pedestrian link between Tom Bradley International Terminal and Delta Airline Terminal 3, ARUP engaged Lynn Capouya, Inc. (LCI) to create a transition area enhancing the travelers’ experience, resolve grade and utility conflicts and make an otherwise remnant area congruent with the image of the new Terminals. Several options were explored with the Design team, Delta Airlines and LAWA staff, to screen operations, accommodate public access (including Smart carts and operations staff) and movement through the space,  provide an opportunity for respite- all while enhancing the environment. Key concerns included: safety, security, loitering, ADA access, lighting, hardscape and landscape selections.

LCI worked with Architectural components such as overhead canopies, walls, screens, and columns to finesse pathways to create an approved and integrated solution.
